Mate had this and was out of work for 6 months , she coukd barely move. For temporary relief she did find it helpful to use one of the heatpacks you pop in the microwave along with her painkillers. She waa on some strong ones. Hydrotherapy might help, worth asking physio about.

Lots of painkillers. One bend between balls. When I batted there was a lot of bending going on.

I played my last game for Surrey at Bradford against the Yorkies. On the last night before we finished (and won the game) I spent the night trying to sleep on my back with my feet pointing up the wall. There had been a serious degeneration during that game.I saw a chiropractor the next morning, then drove home.

Surgery 2 weeks later....problem solved.

Fuck knows how you could walk if you had to do that, let alone play cricket 🏏!

I was at my sons trophy ceremony this morning, it was held in a local school gym, Mrs icwhs wanted me to take pictures..

I was in my “T” position outside, while everyone was wondering who the dickhead was, doing yoga in the hall outside..

Pure 100% agony, and the pain has been constant, not eased up a bit for 7 weeks, the meds don’t help at all, including morfin.

"I can't walk more than 2 minutes without stretching my leg behind me, and bend my upper body in front to relieve the pain".

Identical to me; I played cricket on that for nearly 2 years. Painkillers 4 times each day.

Re: Sciatica
Posted a thread on here 5-6 weeks ago on it.

Herniated disk caused mine, the same agony 7 weeks later, naproxen doesn’t help, in fact I take 7 tablets 3 times a day, anti inflammatory, 2 types of muscle relaxers, and morfin..still makes me nearly cry daily.

Surgeon thinks the nerve is trapped in the hernia, and thinks only surgery will do it.

I can’t walk more than 2 minutes without stretching my leg behind me, and bend my upper body in front to relieve the pain.

I’d rather have my back teeth pulled without novacain than this

Fucking horrendous.

Re: Sciatica
Sciatica is caused (was with me) by a disc that bulged, then ruptured. Major leg pain starting in my left arse cheek down the back of my leg, leaving my left calf atrophied.

I found a chiropractor relieves a lot of the muscle spasm in my lower back, but not the sciatica......chiropractors treat symptoms, not the cause.

Bed rest might help a bulging disk, so might an epidural. I finally had surgery and that solved the problem. If I have minor irritation (in the form of muscle spasm) then I see a chiropractor. Needless to say, I know my lower back very well. My disc issue was L5 S1.

Struggling with this at the moment!! Pain or ache down the outside of my left leg.
Been seeing a physio for lower back & hip flexor problems already.

They recommend ice & foam rolling but it’s been 4 weeks now.

Sitting at a desk is a killer!!

Re: Sciatica
Cadence is strides per minute and the way your foot lands. There is loads on Google. My problem was over striding which caused my problems, can also cause hamstring, Achilles, shin splints. Heel strike is most common and can cause back and knee problems among others.

Running is bad for you, but you can mitigate by losing weight first to reduce impact on joints and starting slowly, walking if necessary and increasing intensity as fitness improves, stretches must also be done regularly. Everyone is different so horses for courses.

Cadence stride length

WTF is that ???

So basically what you are saying arsegrapes is running is shit for you??

Re: Sciatica
Thought I had done my back again as I have had a herniated and degenerative disc for years, but found out it was Iliotibial band syndrome and piriformis syndrome from barefoot running squeezing the Sciatic nerve down my right leg. If right footed it normally follows on the right side. Worst sciatica pain I have ever experienced.

My pelvis became out of line resulting in one leg shorter than the other and the longer foot hitting the floor first and taking most impact. Pelvic tilts, Glute, hamstring, calf stretches, core strengthening are needed to help avoid this. Treadmills now have cushioning to help joint impact. Only run on Cushioned running shoes now. Cadence stride length and hydration is also important.

Re: Sciatica
Had back problems since I was 19, which was 41 years ago and I was told that I couldn't play sport ever again, if I didn't have surgery I could possibly end up in a wheelchair by the time I was 50.

None of these things happened. In a throw away remark by the doctor he said maybe I could avoid surgery by doing core muscle exercises, he then, after much pushing, as I definitely did not want the surgery, that building the core muscles, think of it like a cage right round your middle, I may avoid it.

Since then and fuck me it is difficult at times to keep the discipline especially when you're pissed, I do every core exercises every night and morning and I managed to play football again until I was 55, fucking knee stopped me after that and i'm still not doing a Stephen Hawking impersonation.

I have now finished blowing my own trumpet. My recipe to feel better, core muscle exercises and stretches, every single day, orthopedic mattress and for the pissed days Naproxin, strong anti-inflammatory, you need a prescription. Best of luck mate as it's a real cunt of an injury.

Re: Sciatica
Buy an inversion table it will stretch out your spine where it all starts. Also i found the Elliptical machine works wonders.Try stretching your glutes and piriformus muscles on a daily basis. Hope this helps.
